Ritchie: Mark Your Calendars For "Shed The Meds" Event
April 24, 2017
State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding those who have unused or expired prescriptions can dispose of them at an upcoming “Shed the Meds” event on Thursday, May 4.
This event, which is being held in conjunction with Carthage Area Hospital, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department and the Village of Carthage Police Department, gives residents a chance to properly–and safely– discard unused medications. This “Shed the Meds” event will take place at Carthage Area Hospital, located at 1001 West Street, Carthage, New York, from 11a.m. to 2p.m.
“Most people have prescriptions that are expired or no longer used sitting in their medicine cabinets,” Sen. Ritchie said. “Through this event, we can offer individuals a safe and responsible way to dispose of those medications. I would like to thank Carthage Area Hospital, as well as our local law enforcement agencies for again partnering with me on this important effort.”
Over the past several years, Senator Ritchie has helped collect nearly 400 pound of unused prescriptions through the Shed the Meds program. Those who are unable to attend may drop off any of their unwanted medications to the Metro-Jefferson County Public Safety Building, located at 753 Waterman Drive in Watertown.
