MARBLETOWN BRIDGE NAMED IN HONOR OF LONGTIME PUBLIC SERVANT

Senator George Amedore today announced Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation he sponsored (S.7741) to rename the bridge on state route 213 across Rondout creek at High Falls in the town of Marbletown as the "Kathy Cairo Davis Memorial Bridge", in honor of the longest tenured public servant in the Town of Marbletown.

“Kathy Cairo Davis served her community for more than 35 years as town clerk, tax collector and registrar,” said Senator George Amedore. “She loved her community, and this is a fitting tribute to the dedication, commitment and extraordinary service she displayed.”

“Kathy Cairo Davis was the longest tenured public servant in the Town of Marbletown history,” said Marbletown Supervisor Rich Parete. “There could be no more appropriate honor than to name the new bridge in High Falls after Kathy Cairo Davis, a name that should never be forgotten. I would like to thank Senator Amedore for honoring the service of Kathy Cairo Davis by working with Town of Marbletown to ensure that Kathy’s work for the community will never be forgotten.”

Ms. Kathy Cairo Davis passed away in June 2017. After her death, Senator Amedore’s office received a petition signed by more than 300 residents requesting the bridge be named in her honor. 

“The outpouring of support to honor the life and legacy of a true public servant was moving,” said Senator Amedore. “She truly touched the lives of so many, and it’s wonderful to know the memory of her service will not be forgotten.”
