Senator Amedore Secures $1 Million for LUMBERYARD's Center for Film and Performing Arts in Catskill

Senator George Amedore today announced he has secured $1 million in economic development funding from this year's state budget for LUMBERYARD's Center for Film and Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art film production and performance venue scheduled to hold their grand opening in Catskill on Saturday, September 1st.

"LUMBERYARD is an anchor for revitalization efforts in the Village of Catskill and it's going to have a tremendous economic impact in Greene County and the entire region," said Senator Amedore. "Not only will they bring world class performing arts into the community and establish Greene County as a premiere destination for film production, they will provide hands-on training and education to inspire our future workforce. This is a great investment that will help create jobs, generate tourism, and benefit the entire community."

LUMBERYARD will host a series of internationally recognized artists in its 7,000+ square foot space, which can be reconfigured to replicate a variety of New York City stages. LUMBERYARD also offers a TV and film studio – a newly designed, purpose-built production facility – that serves as the only Qualified Production Facility in Greene County. The studio will serve filmmakers, production companies, and the motion picture industry looking to take advantage of New York State’s film tax credit program. 

A recent economic impact study projects LUMBERYARD to welcome up to 10,000 additional visitors to the region each year. At its peak, the center could support the creation of up to 150 direct, indirect and induced jobs, and $13 million in economic output. This growth will be primarily driven by the center’s artistic programming, film and TV production soundstage rentals, and conference and wedding rentals. Of note, 100 percent of LUMBERYARD’s revenue is invested back into the performing arts.
