State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing that she is now accepting nominations for the New York State Senate’s “Veterans Hall of Fame”.  This program is designed to honor veterans across the Empire State who have made an impact in both their civilian and military lives.

“We owe our freedom to the selfless veterans who sacrificed so much to fight for our country,” said Senator Ritchie.

“I am honored to recognize these special people who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve our nation, as well as make major contributions to the communities where they live and work. Our region is home to some of the most amazing heroes, and I hope people will take a moment to nominate them for their selfless service.”

Friends, family, veterans’ posts and community members from Oswego, St. Lawrence and Jefferson Counties are encouraged to nominate veterans for the honor.  Nomination forms are available by clicking the PDF link above the photo, or by calling (315) 782-3418 to have a form mailed to you.

Last year, Senator Ritchie honored 27 local veterans from all branches of the U.S. Armed Services through the Veterans Hall of Fame initiative.  Information on this year’s event will be released at a later date.

In recent years, dozens of individuals have been recognized by Senator Ritchie for fighting in some of history’s most dangerous battles, including, World War II’s Invasion of Normandy, Iwo Jima and the Battle of the Bulge, as well as more recent conflicts in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The deadline to submit nominations is June 20th.
