Ritchie Helps Preserve Historic Lisbon Town Hall

State Senator Patty Ritchie has delivered $50,000 in state funding to restore the historic Lisbon Town Hall.

Built in 1889, the Lisbon Town Hall houses several key town offices, including its town court. It is also the home for town meetings and a youth basketball program in the winter. Town officials had looked into constructing a new town hall in the past but decided to spend money upgrading the heating system and renovating its current, historic office space instead.

“Small towns often have difficulties raising the funds needed to do major renovation work,” said Senator Ritchie. “That’s why I am pleased to secure support to help these municipalities preserve their historical buildings and still efficiently provide town services to their residents.”

“Without the support of Senator Ritchie, we would not be able to maintain the building as it should be,” said Bill Dashnaw, the budget director for the Town of Lisbon. “This project would not be done without state funding and we thank Senator Ritchie for her support and concern for improving our town’s facilities.”

Recently, Senator Ritchie delivered state funding for much-needed repairs in and around the historic Oswegatchie Town Hall building and Macomb’s Town Hall building.

In addition, Senator Ritchie secured state funding for the City of Ogdensburg to help offset the costs of installing new energy efficient windows at its historic City Hall.
