Senator Kennedy’s Queen City Job Fair Doubles in Size; Hundreds Attend Event at Buffalo Niagara Convention Center

More than 120 Employers Participate in Free Job Fair April 19, as Local Businesses Look to Fill Over 3,200 Full-Time Positions

On-site Interviews, Resume Reviews, and a free Computer Lab Available to Fair Attendees

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Senator Tim Kennedy (D-Buffalo) hosted his Queen City Job Fair Thursday, April 19th from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. The event, in partnership with NYS Department of Labor, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, Mayor Byron Brown, and Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes, hosted more than 120 employers seeking to fill more than 3,200 available positions. On-site interviews were also conducted by several companies, as well as resume reviews with experts, and access to a computer lab.

Companies in attendance included some of Buffalo’s biggest employers, including Delaware North, Catholic Health, Roswell Park Comprehensive Care Center, Community Action Organization, and the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority. 

“Without fail, the number one call we get from folks across the region deals with the need for assistance and education on job opportunities that currently exist in our community,” said Senator Tim Kennedy. “I’m proud to continue to partner with the New York State Department of Labor and my colleagues in government to ensure we’re streamlining the search process for job-seekers, and connecting them to companies and resources that are actively seeking to fill positions. Whether you’re considering a career change or looking to rejoin the workforce, this job fair not only connects Western New Yorkers with job opportunities, but links them the resources and skills needed to secure these positions.”

It’s crucial to build partnerships with local leaders like Senator Kennedy to offer job seekers the opportunities they need and I thank him for his ongoing efforts in this area.”

This is the second job fair Kennedy has held within the last six months; in September, he hosted a Fall Job Fair at the Reverend Dr. Bennett W. Smith, Sr. Family Life Center. Two months later, he unveiled the launch of the Kennedy Jobs File (www.kennedyjobs.com) a website designed to connect job seekers with regional employment opportunities on a weekly basis.
