Senator David Carlucci

August 30, 2019

(Ossining, NY) – The Town of Ossining unveiled a new splash pad at the Spray Park at the Louis Engel Waterfront Park on Friday.

The new splash pad debuted this summer season, and it quickly became a community favorite for families and children during the warm weather.

In advance of the last weekend of summer, the Town and Senator David Carlucci (D-Westchester/Rockland) highlighted this new community asset with an official grand opening.

The new splash pad was made possible with a State Capital Grant secured by Carlucci for $100,000. Town officials thanked him for the State funds to complete the project.

Ossining Town Supervisor Dana Levenberg said, “We are so grateful to Senator Carlucci for helping us get this state money to upgrade our Town’s wonderful spray park to make it safer and more inviting for our children. The spray park is probably the busiest spot out of all of our Town parks during the hot summer months and truly a community favorite. The new, brightly colored surface is inviting to children and softer on their feet, as well as for any slips. It is a great place for all in our community to come together and enjoy a cool reprieve on a hot summer day, no matter what their financial situation might be. We couldn’t be happier with this beautiful spot.”

Senator David Carlucci said, “State funding to improve our parks and facilities that service children and families is critical to the vitality of our communities. This spray park will offer a fun, safe, and free option for families to enjoy and visit. I am proud to have secured the funding and to work with the Town of Ossining to see this project to fruition.”

Ossining Town Council Member, Jackie Shaw said, “The Spray Park at Engel Park is a wonderful place for Ossining families to get outside and play. We are thankful to Senator Carlucci for helping us to keep it looking great.”

Village of Ossining Water Superintendent Andrew Tiess said, “This was an exciting project to work on.  The residents will be able to enjoy these amenities for years to come.”

Westchester County Legislator Catherine Borgia said
,  “Louis Engel Waterfront Park is a treasured community space for families in Ossining to enjoy the picturesque Hudson River views while offering children places to play. The addition of a splash pad at the park playground will only make it more fun for our youngest community members during summertime. I fully support all improvements to this important community resource, and I am delighted that the park is gaining another space for children to engage their natural curiosity and creativity, while beating the heat.”

The spray park will be open 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. through Labor Day.
