Senator Skoufis Announces $24K in Funding for Legal Aid Society of Rockland County, Inc.
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced $24,000 in funding he secured for the Legal Aid Society of Rockland County, Inc (LASRC). The funding will enhance a program that includes rapid re-housing and eviction prevention as well as housing stabilization services. These funds will be used to specifically serve residents in North Rockland.
“I was incredibly proud to secure this funding for the Legal Aid Society of Rockland,” said Senator Skoufis. “LASRC has been working on the grounds in Rockland County for over 4 decades to provide access to justice for those who need it, and I’m confident this funding will help them do just that. As I thoroughly learned through my investigation into housing and code enforcement, tenants often need legal assistance but don’t know where to turn. I’m proud that Rockland has a place like LASRC and will always do my part to support their work.”
Alexander Bursztein, Executive Director of the Legal Aid Society of Rockland Inc. said, “I thank Senator Skoufis for securing this funding that will help us to enhance our eviction prevention program, thereby helping families in Rockland County avoid the tragic consequences of homelessness. This will make a big difference in the lives of our clients.”
Senator Skoufis continues to fiercely advocate for the North Rockland community that has been underrepresented for far too long and plans to make additional announcements in the weeks to come.
