Skoufis Secures $1.8 Million for Resurfacing Route 32
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) has secured $1.8 million to resurface Route 32 from Timber Trail to Maple Road in the Town of Woodbury.
“I’ve lobbied the Department of Transportation and state for years to advance this crucial project,” Skoufis said. “Everyone who drives on Route 32 through Woodbury, one of the busiest roads in the area, knows how necessary this repair is and it’s time we had a smooth and safe ride. This is a big win for our community.”
Route 32 from Woodbury Common to Bond Street will also be repaved as part of the Exit 131 upgrade, a component of the project Senator Skoufis successfully added to the work’s scope after learning it was originally omitted.
Woodbury Town Supervisor Frank Palermo (D) said, “On behalf of all of Woodbury, I want to thank Senator James Skoufis for all his hard work in getting Route 32 paved. It's been a long time coming and I look forward this improvement to our main road.”
Woodbury Village Deputy Mayor Tim Egan (R) said, “Funding for our community is a non-partisan issue. I’ve met with and spoken to the senator several times during this year’s budget negotiations about our community. He hit the ground running in the Senate and getting $1.8 million in funding to pave Route 32 in Highland Mills is yet another example of the great relationship we share with our senator. Thank you Senator Skoufis for taking care of us!”
Funding for the project will come from an infrastructure program that Skoufis helped enact in last year’s state budget. The resurfacing is tentatively set to go out for bid in the summer with construction taking place in the fall. The project will also include sidewalk improvements to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
