Tedisco Honors Mayfield Woman Who Found and Returned $8,000 to Schoharie Limo Crash Widow

Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) today honored with a New York State Senate Citation, Mayfield resident Terri Brubaker, who found and returned about $8,000 to a widow of one of the Schoharie limousine crash victims.
On January 14th, Brubaker, who is the Village of Mayfield’s Clerk and Treasurer, was driving on busy Route 30A in Gloversville when she saw money floating in the air. Brubaker got out of her car and put her own safety at risk to collect the nearly $8,000 before it blew away, which came out of an envelope marked “Dad.”
The good Samaritan brought the money over to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office in the hopes that whoever lost the money would come looking for it. When Brubaker got to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman who lost the money, Kim Steenburg, also of Mayfield and the widow of Rich Steenburg, who was one of the 20 victims of the tragic limo crash, was there filling out a police report.
“There’s a saying that integrity is doing the right thing when no one is watching. Terri Brubaker showed her true character and selfless integrity when she put her own safety at risk and went out onto a busy highway to collect about $8,000 in lost money and do everything she could to return it to its rightful owner,” said Senator Tedisco. “Terri Brubaker’s good deed, I believe, brought a small ray of light into the life of Kim Steenburg, who, along with 20 other families, continues to mourn the horrific loss of their loved ones.
