Senate Announces Joint Public Hearing On MTA’s 2020-2024 Capital Program

(Albany, NY) The Senate today announced a joint hearing with the State Assembly, to be held on Tuesday, November 12, will examine the historic $51.5 billion 2020-2024 MTA Capital Plan. This hearing will offer legislators an opportunity to receive testimony and ask questions of MTA officials and expert stakeholders, and will be chaired by Senator Leroy Comrie - Chair of the Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions Committee, Senator Tim Kennedy - Chair of the Transportation Committee, and Assemblymember Amy Paulin - Chair of the Assembly Standing Committee on Corporations, Authorities and Commissions.

“The MTA Capital Plan is a historic investment in New York's public transit that will improve the lives of riders across the region,” Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said. “The implementation of the MTA's 5-year Capital Plan will have drastic implications for New York, our economy, and our quality of life, which is why we must ensure it moves forward effectively. I applaud Senator Comrie, Senator Kennedy, and Assemblymember Paulin for organizing this hearing to review this essential capital plan and its implementation.”

Chair of the Corporations, Authorities, and Commissions Committee, Senator Leroy Comrie said, “The MTA has committed to a historic Capital Plan to revive and enhance our region’s transit networks. While this investment is much needed, money alone will not be the remedy to the authority's ongoing troubles.
