Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) shared that his Thanksgiving basket drive, in partnership with RDM Ministries of Newburgh, secured hundreds of food items and monetary donations to help bring Thanksgiving meals to those in need in the City of Newburgh.
Earlier this month, Senator Skoufis and his office did extensive outreach asking the community to donate stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, veggies, and boxed bread/dessert mix. Members of the community donated hundreds of these items, as well as over $500 in monetary donations and grocery store gift cards.
RDM Ministries secured turkeys for the Thanksgiving baskets through a donation from Amazon; the items from Senator Skoufis’ drive completed the rest of the baskets for families. Senator Skoufis’ District Office in Newburgh served as the drop-off location. At the end of last week, Senator Skoufis and his staff hand-delivered the donations to Life Restoration Church.
“I thank the community for coming together once again to help our neighbors in need,” said Senator Skoufis. “The ongoing public health and economic crises have left many of our neighbors in need of basic items during the holiday season, and I was delighted to partner with RDM Ministries who, alongside other phenomenal groups such as Loaves and Fishes and the Newburgh Armory, helped get quality Thanksgiving meals to so many local families.”
“Love and hope permeated the city as we were able to feed hundreds of families with the donations given to us,” said Pastor Robert McLymore, CEO of RDM Ministries Inc and Senior Pastor of Life Restoration Church Newburgh. “Our sponsors and partnerships such as Senator James Skoufis, Amazon, RDM Ministries Inc., Zumba Sistas, McLymore Foundation, Farmer’s Insurance, Groove Phi Groove and Life Restoration Church Inc., and acts of kindness placed smiles on hundreds of individuals' faces and put joy in their hearts as they received their turkeys and trimmings for their Thanksgiving meals. We believe that the success of our city is on us and it starts by serving.”
