Senator Thomas Announces Over $900,000 in Grants to Support Hempstead Village Police

(Hempstead, NY) — New York State Senator Kevin Thomas was joined by Hempstead Village Mayor Don Ryan, Hempstead Village Trustees, and Hempstead Village Police Officials to announce that he has secured $900,000 in State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) grant funding for the Hempstead Village Police Department. The funds will be used to purchase critical equipment that will advance community policing efforts and help law enforcement officers better protect the public they serve.
The funds include a $331,000 Grant to upgrade and expand the Village’s License Plate Reader (LPR) system, and a $614,000 Grant for pole-mounted cameras.
“Our law enforcement agencies must have the ability to purchase advanced technology and new equipment in order to effectively patrol and protect our communities,” said Senator Thomas. “The more than $900,000 in grant funding that I’m announcing today will help keep our residents and first responders safe.”
