(Yonkers, NY) - Today, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins promoted the new Yonkers vaccine site by handing out flyers, masks, and hand sanitizers to Yonkers residents near the ShopRite on Prospect Street in Yonkers. The Majority Leader was joined by volunteers from her Youth Advisory Council and the YWCA Yonkers, along with office staff.
Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said, "I want to thank everyone who helped us pass out flyers, masks, and hand sanitizers today. Promoting that vaccine appointments are available for eligible residents in our community will hopefully lead to more people registering and ultimately saving lives."
The Majority Leader, encouraged all eligible residents to make appointments now to get vaccinated, as part of her ongoing awareness campaign in communities hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Eligible residents in ZIP codes: 10701, 10703, 10704, 10705, 10550, 10552, or 10553 can book an appointment through the New York State website or the Vaccine Hotline at 1-833-NYS-4-VAX (1-833-697-4829), open 7:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said, "We've seen more than 12,000 appointments booked through Day 2 so we know our efforts are working. We need to continue getting the word out to residents in the communities hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic. My office has given out more than 10,000 flyers in English and Spanish to the cities of Yonkers and Mount Vernon, along with community organizations. We are working diligently to get the word out to seniors and our immigrant communities and expand outreach. Residents can always call my office if they need help booking an appointment."
The new FEMA vaccination site is set to open on March 3rd at the National Guard Armory, at 2 Quincy Place, Yonkers 10701. The site will begin accepting walk-in's to make an appointment on March 3rd from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., 7 days a week. All Westchester County residents can begin making an appointment by walking-in, through the website, or by phone beginning on March 3rd.
