Senator Sanders Congratulates Senator Brian Benjamin on Becoming the New Lieutenant Governor of New York
August 25, 2021
State Senator James Sanders Jr. said: “I would like to congratulate my colleague in government Senator Brian Benjamin on becoming the new Lieutenant Governor of our great State of New York. I can not think of a better person to take on this challenging role. I have had the opportunity to work with Senator Benjamin on legislation many times including a comprehensive bill to restrict no-knock warrants, and it has always been a joyous and productive process.
As the Senate Chairman of Committee on Revenue and Budget, Senator Benjamin definitely brings with him the tools to tackle our challenging budget issues following the coronavirus pandemic. These are skills that he built upon from when he was in the private sector working in investment banking and financial management.
He has also worked to help build affordable housing, strengthen Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises, mentor youth and increase workforce development. Senator Benjamin is just the type of renaissance man we need as the 2nd in command of our great state and I am sure that he and our new Governor will make quite the dynamic duo. Let’s move ahead, onward and upward, for the betterment of the entirety of our state.”
