Teachers in Addabbo's district can submit their students' art work for the New York State Senate Earth Day 2021 Poster Celebration

As a way to help teach kids the importance of Earth Day, the New York State Senate is hosting their Earth Day 2021 Poster Celebration, and teachers from schools in Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr.’s district can submit their students’ posters to be featured on his Senate website.

The theme for this celebration is: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The Senate’s focus is to emphasize the importance of recycling and waste reduction, to encourage the exchange of ideas about recycling and waste reduction among schools, children and adults, and to stimulate creative thinking about solutions to problems concerning recycling and waste reduction.

The Senate’s goal with this celebration is to encourage children to develop an awareness of the environment and its resources. Teaching children about the importance of recycling and waste reduction is critical as we face the environmental challenges of the 21st Century.

“It is vital to teach children the importance of protecting our planet and keeping it as healthy as possible through our actions and Earth Day is the perfect time to talk about these lessons,” Addabbo said. “With this Earth Day Poster Celebration, we hope that teachers take some time out and allow their students to create posters about what they have learned about Earth Day and keeping our planet clean. I look forward to seeing all the great posters from the amazing students in my district!”

From now until Tuesday, April 19, teachers of students in grades K-6 are asked to submit their posters on Senator Addabbo’s website here: https://www.nysenate.gov/senators/joseph-p-addabbo-jr. All submissions must be uploaded to the website by April 19, 2021.

In order to have students’ posters on Addabbo’s Senate website, teachers must fill out their class and school information first, and then enter ALL the students on the form. Entries should be photographed and submitted electronically, preferably in jpeg or pdf format. Please enter each student individually, as the website cannot accept a single pdf with all students grouped together.

“In the past, I have had many of our local, younger residents participate in the rain barrel, paper shredding and electronic recycling events I sponsor throughout the district. Here is another way they can show their interest in our environment,” Addabbo concluded.
