(Garden City, NY) — New York State Senator Kevin Thomas, Chairman of the Committee on Consumer Protection, has introduced a bill (S.7477) to ban the possession and use of live ammunition at film production facilities in New York State following the fatal accidental shooting by actor Alec Baldwin at a movie set in New Mexico.
The legislation would also require all persons employed or present at a film production facility to receive proper training on the safe use, handling, storage, and transportation of firearms.
The bill is expected to be reviewed when the Senate enters session next year.
