Senator Michelle Hinchey Announces COVID-19 Pop-Up Vaccination Site in Tannersville

TANNERSVILLE, NY – Senator Michelle Hinchey today announced that a new pop-up vaccination site is coming to the Villa Vosilla Boutique Resort in Tannersville, secured through her advocacy with the Governor’s Office and New York State Department of Health (DOH). The pop-up, delivered in partnership with Wellness Rx LLC, will be open on Friday, March 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and will administer first doses of the Pfizer vaccine to those who are eligible under the state’s vaccination plan. Second doses will be scheduled at the time of first dose appointments.

“Since the start of this pandemic, we have been advocating for our more rural communities to have the same access to vaccines as our counterparts in more urban and suburban areas,” said Senator Hinchey. “I am thrilled to announce this pop-up site at Villa Vosilla in Tannersville, which is the direct result of countless discussions with state officials, and strong community advocacy, on the vital need for increased vaccine distribution in Greene County. While the vaccine supply continues to increase, our residents still struggle with insufficient access. I will continue to push for a rollout that meets the needs of our rural areas and makes access to the vaccine easy and equal for everyone.”

The pop-up vaccinations are by appointment only, and Greene County residents can schedule an appointment by calling Senator Hinchey’s office at (845) 331-3810 by 12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 24. Scheduling preference will be given to mountaintop residents.

News of the Tannersville pop-up comes on the heels of the state’s announcement today that New York will allow residents aged 50 and older to receive COVID-19 vaccines beginning Tuesday, March 23.

In related legislation, Hinchey announced a new bill (S5398) that would require the DOH to open permanent state-run COVID-19 mass vaccination sites in every county of the state and includes an opt-out process for counties that no longer need one, among other provisions.

Hinchey, who represents Greene and Montgomery counties and parts of Albany, Schenectady, and Ulster counties, is actively working to secure more COVID-19 vaccination pop-up sites, testing infrastructure, and permanent state-run mass vaccination sites in high-need communities across her 150-mile district.
