September 30, 2021
In an effort to help people clean out their medicine cabinets, protect the environment and improve community safety, State Senator Patty Ritchie will be hosting“Drive-Thru Drug Take Back” events in the cities of Watertown and Ogdensburg during the month of October.
The events will take place on October 13th in Watertown and October 21st in Ogdensburg. They are being made possible with assistance from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Ogdensburg Police Department.
“Abuse of prescription medicine is a growing problem in communities across our country,” said Senator Patty Ritchie. “I’m hopeful people will take advantage of these opportunities to keep their family and neighbors safe by disposing of unwanted and expired medicines at my ‘Drive-Thru Drug Take Back’ events.”
Details of the events are as follows:
Watertown: Wednesday, October 13th from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Watertown Municipal Arena Parking Lot (600 William T. Field Drive)
Ogdensburg: Thursday, October 21st from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Richard G. Lockwood Civic Center Parking Lot (141 West River Street)
At the events, any unused or expired medications will be accepted, with the exception of needles, syringes and liquids.
