Brewster, NY – New York State Senator Pete Harckham has secured $255,000 in state grant funding for Hudson Valley Regional Community Health Centers (HVRCHC) to help expand its dental care operations for residents at its healthcare facilities in Brewster and Poughkeepsie. The announcement of the grant was made by Harckham during his recent visit to HVRCHC’s Brewster office.
“Ensuring the well-being of our residents helps strengthen our communities in countless ways, so I am pleased that Hudson Valley Regional Community Health Centers is receiving this vital state assistance,” said Harckham. “Right now, there are many low-income and underserved residents who are in desperate need of professional dental care. This funding will increase the number of patients that the HVRCHC can treat on any given day.”
With the state grant funding, HVRCHC plans to add two new dental operatories in Brewster to the two existing operatories, and open two dental operatories in Poughkeepsie, where currently there are none. The operatories will be outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, including new X-ray machines.
A federally qualified health care organization, HVRCHC has been serving Brewster and Poughkeepsie residents for more than 30 years. It provides high quality medical care to mostly residents who are underserved with a special focus on the needs of people with unique abilities and chronic health conditions. Notably, HVRCHC maintains a culturally sensitive service environment and does not discriminate on the basis of ability to pay.
Along with primary and specialty health care services, HVRCHC also offers dental services, mental health counseling, rehabilitation services, audiology and fall-risk assessments.
“This state funding that we are receiving will allow us to enhance the necessary services that we provide to all members of the community,” said Howard Yager, CEO of HVRCHC. “By setting up the additional dental operatories, we will actually be able to increase our entire network of services. I truly appreciate Senator Harckham’s help in securing these grants for us and keeping the needs of our residents a top priority.”
