Senator Rachel May Introduces Bill to Extend All Liquor Licenses for On-Premise Alcohol Retailers for One Year

Syracuse, NY - Today, Senator Rachel May (D-Onondaga, Madison, Oneida) introduced a bill (S.3180) that will extend liquor licenses for on-premise alcohol retailers for one year at no cost to the licensee.  

The COVID-19 crisis has had an adverse effect on many sectors of our State's economy, but perhaps none more so than those establishments that serve alcohol to their patrons. This legislation will ensure that businesses currently holding a liquor license will have a one year extension of this license, will not be charged for this extension, nor be subject to a late fee for this extension. 

“Our restaurants and bars have faced enormous challenges during the pandemic,” said Senator Rachel May. “These businesses are cornerstones of our personal and social lives that need help right now. This is one step we can take to help ease some of their burden after nearly a year of intermittent closures and reduced capacities. We must do what we can to help restaurants and bars thrive as we hopefully enter the final stage of the pandemic, and to kickstart a pivotal part of our economy.”
