Statement by State Senator Brian Kavanagh on Veto of Legislation Seeking a Resident Majority on the Battery Park City Authority Board
“I am very disappointed by the Governor’s decision to veto S9031A, which would have expanded the Board of the Battery Park City Authority from seven to nine members and required that a majority of members be primary residents of Battery Park City. This legislation would have strengthened the voice of residents in matters affecting their daily lives, while ensuring that the Board would be able to maintain the necessary experience and expertise. I will continue to work with the community and my colleagues in government to push for the voices and best interests of BPC residents to be reflected in the Authority’s governance.”
