Stec Joins Bi-Partisan Delegation, Families and Advocates on Second Annual Remembrance Day
March 23, 2022
Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today joined a bi-partisan group of Assemblymembers and Senators, advocates from Voices for Seniors and families in commemorating the second anniversary of disgraced former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s COVID nursing home policy and the thousands of senior deaths attributed to it.
In addition to honoring the more than 15,000 seniors in nursing homes who perished because of the decision to place COVID-positive patients back into these facilities, Stec and his colleagues called for the state Department of Health to conduct a full investigation into the policy and Cuomo’s subsequent cover-up of its fallout.
“Because of a cover-up, we still don’t know the full story behind what happened with former Governor Cuomo’s nursing home directive and how many lives were lost because of it,” Stec said. “It’s been two years since that decision and thousands of grieving families still don’t have the answers they deserve.
“The Department of Health must conduct a full investigation and reveal the full truth behind the nursing home decision and its cover-up,” he added. “We have to ensure tragedies and cover-ups like these never happen again.”
