Senator Gallivan joined law enforcement officers from various agencies across the state in honoring 49 officers who had their names added to the State Of New York Police Officers Memorial in Albany Tuesday.
Thirty-five officers died as a result of illnesses associated with their service at Ground Zero after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Other officers recognized Tuesday were killed directly in the line of duty.
There are a total of 1,717 officers listed on the memorial on the Empire State Plaza in Albany.
