Harckham Announces State Budget Funding for Legal Services of the Hudson Valley
April 25, 2022
Peekskill, NY – New York State Senator Pete Harckham visited the offices of Legal Services of the Hudson Valley (LSHV) here recently with some good and important news: the recently enacted FY2023 State Budget includes funding to the nonprofit organization. Now in its 55th year, LSHV provides support, advocacy and high quality civil legal representation to poor and low-income families and individuals in Westchester, Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties.
“Senator Harckham is a long-standing supporter of civil legal services and understands how access to justice is essential to achieving true equity in our communities,” Rachel Halperin, CEO of LSHV. “We are grateful for his advocacy for increased funding for civil legal services, which will enable us to expand our eviction defense, Veterans and Military Families Project and our LGBTQ unit in the Hudson Valley.”
