STATE LAWMAKERS SPONSORING ‘MANUFACTURING AND TRADES’ JOB FAIR ON SEPTEMBER 14 IN TONAWANDA
Job Fair Hosted by New York State Department of Labor and UAW Local 774 to Feature Over 20 Local Employers
TONAWANDA, N.Y. – Today, September 8, 2022, New York State Senator Sean Ryan, Assemblymember Bill Conrad, and Assemblymember Jon Rivera announced they are sponsoring a job fair in collaboration with the New York State Department of Labor and UAW Local 774. The event will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 1-5 p.m. at the UAW Local 774 Hall at 2939 Niagara St. in Tonawanda.
The fair will highlight manufacturing and trades jobs at more than 20 local companies, including major employers like General Mills, E-One, the New York State Building & Construction Trades Council, the United States Postal Service, the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, and Milk-Bone.
Senator Sean Ryan said, “The unemployment rate here in Western New York has improved to pre-pandemic levels, but we know there are still workers looking for a new opportunity. This event is a chance for those people to connect with some of our great local employers and learn about the jobs that are available in the manufacturing and trades industries right now.”
Assemblymember Bill Conrad said, “Trades and manufacturing workers are the builders of economy, the makers of the goods and products that quite literally keep us running. I am thankful to DOL and UAW Local 774 for taking the lead on this effort to showcase for our skilled workforce the employers and opportunities available to them here in Western New York.”
Assemblymember Jon Rivera said, “The Buffalo-Niagara region has made great strides in bolstering our workforce and has begun to slowly recover from the effects of the pandemic. However, with our region’s shrinking labor force, many employers are looking to fill positions. This event, held in coordination with UAW Local 774, will offer prospective applicants opportunities and guidance, and will underscore our area’s robust manufacturing and trades offerings.”
