Senator Shelley B. Mayer Statement on State of the State Address
January 5, 2022
"Thank you Governor Kathy Hochul for outlining such a positive plan for New York State in the State of the State speech today. The Governor reiterated her belief that not only will we recover from COVID, we will build and enhance New York's historic legacy of innovation, social justice and economic opportunity. There is no question New York faces significant challenges with Omicron, economic recovery, an education system under severe strain and a range of overwhelming challenges facing New Yorkers in their daily lives. The Governor's optimistic yet realistic approach is exactly what is needed during this moment. I especially appreciate her willingness to listen to and work with members of the Legislature and to find cooperative solutions to the problems our constituents face. As we move ahead, I look forward to examining the details of each of the proposals outlined as well as their budget implications. My priorities of fighting for my district and for New York State's young people - from birth through entry into the job market - will continue unabated. I look forward to working with my colleagues and the Executive to achieve these goals."
