Statement by Senator George Borrello on the Delayed Release of Sexual Predator and Killer Edward Kindt

ALBANY, NY – Senator George Borrello has issued the following statement in response to the news that the release of convicted murderer Edward Kindt has been delayed:

“This morning I spoke directly with Acting Commissioner Anthony Annucci of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS) to relay my concerns and those of our community over the impending release of brutal murderer and rapist Edward Kindt.

While the Commissioner does not have the ability to nullify the reckless decision of the pro-criminal members of the State Parole Board who voted to free Kindt, the Commissioner confirmed, as reports have indicated, that Kindt’s release has been delayed as further consideration is given to his placement. Prison is the only appropriate residence for a monster like this and the only option that keeps innocent New Yorkers safe.

I would like to thank my fellow elected officials, the members of the Seneca Nation, the Cattaraugus County Legislature and everyone from our community who has joined me in condemning this horrific decision and urging the Parole Board to revoke their ruling. I will continue to be vigilant in monitoring this situation and standing up for the safety of my constituents and all New Yorkers.”
