On Monday, March 6, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. visited P.S. 64Q for the school’s Civics for All Day where he saw presentations on how the students want to improve their communities and other topics important to them. The kids also presented the results for their participatory budgeting process where all students in kindergarten through fifth grade got to vote on how to spend funds allocated to the school.
“It was great to see the students engaged in civics and learning how their voice can make a difference in their community,” Addabbo said. “They are learning that when we all work together we can make big changes that benefit everyone. I want to thank the principal, teachers and staff at P.S. 64Q for introducing the students to the importance of civic engagement.”
