Senator Luis Sepúlveda's Bill to Expand Metro-North Railroad Service Passes New York Senate

Albany, NY - New York State Senator Luis Sepúlveda is proud to announce that his bill, S6682A, aimed at expanding Metro-North railroad service in the Bronx, has successfully passed the New York Senate. This legislative milestone brings us one step closer to enhancing transportation access and improving the lives of Bronx residents. 

The bill, which received bipartisan support, authorizes the City of New York to discontinue a portion of real property as parkland and grant easements for improvements to the railroad right-of-way. Its primary objective is to enable the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) to undertake critical improvements associated with the Penn Station Access Project. 

Senator Sepúlveda stated, "I am thrilled that my colleagues in the Senate have recognized the importance of this bill and its potential to transform transportation in the Bronx. By expanding Metro-North railroad service, we are opening doors of opportunity for our community, providing them with better access to jobs, education, and other essential services." 

The Penn Station Access Project, facilitated by this legislation, will allow Metro-North passengers to travel directly into Penn Station.
