Senate Deputy Leader Gianaris Announces $649,000 in Arts Funding for 22 Organizations & Programs in Western Queens

ASTORIA, N.Y. – Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris announced more than $649,000 in state funding for arts programs through the New York State Council on the Arts. Funding will go to 22 organizations and programs throughout western Queens.
“The arts are the soul of western Queens and supporting this community is critical to our economic vitality,” said Senate Deputy Leader Michael Gianaris. “I am pleased so many groups are receiving support, and that the New York State Council on the Arts is using the Legislature’s investment in our own community.”

Senator Gianaris has been an avid supporter of the arts and culture throughout New York, each year securing sizable funding for the Council on the Arts in the state budget and ensuring substantial amounts return to Queens. Additionally, Senator Gianaris secured over $5 million in funding for the Museum of the Moving Image, a western Queens landmark.
