Statement From Senator Canzoneri-Fitzpatrick On MTA Board Congestion Pricing Vote

In the past three years, we have hemorrhaged hundreds of thousands of New Yorkers to other, freer states - yet Albany Democrats continue to put forth policies, taxes, regulations, and fees that are burdening our shrinking middle class. Meanwhile, the MTA faces no consequences for the deep financial hole they put themselves in. Why can’t the MTA make up for their billions of dollars in revenue losses by penalizing toll and fare evaders, rather than picking the pockets of taxpayers yet again? Touting this as promoting cleaner air is a gross mischaracterization of what this really is.
