Stec: Hochul's Public Safety Post Shows How Little She Understands Public Safety Crisis
December 23, 2024
Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today expressed his disgust with Governor Hochul’s recent social media post concerning subway safety. The post on X, boasting of a decrease in crime on New York City subways, comes after two riders were stabbed in Queens and mere hours after a subway passenger was set on fire and killed by an illegal immigrant from Guatemala. Stec, a proponent of cracking down on violent offenders and more stringent immigration policies, criticized the governor for her tone-deaf statement and failure to take the illegal immigration and public safety crises seriously.
“Governor Hochul just doesn’t get it. Under her watch, New York is less safe than ever. This past weekend’s horrific violence on the subways made that even more clear. Instead of responding to these tragedies with a strong law enforcement response, the governor instead issued a ridiculous statement that the subways are safer than ever. New Yorkers know the truth. Democrat leadership has brought an illegal immigration crisis and spate of violent crime to communities across our state. Instead of ill-timed pyrrhic victory statements, the governor should do what millions of voters across this state have called for and take actions to end this epidemic of violent crime and illegal immigration,” he said.
