Stec, Senate GOP Colleagues Call on Governor Hochul to Remove Manhattan DA Bragg from Office
February 9, 2024
Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today joined his Senate Republican colleagues in calling on Governor Hochul to remove embattled Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg from office. Under the district attorney’s watch, violent crime in New York City has continued to spiral out of control. Most recently, he released a group of illegal immigrants who assaulted two New York City Police Department officers without bail.
“Between rising crime and the ongoing chaos created by a surge in illegal immigrants, there’s a major public safety crisis in New York City. The longer the unsafe policies and pro-crime policies in the city continue, the more unsafe it becomes for everyone in our state,” said Stec. “For years, we’ve seen Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg act more like a public defender masquerading as a prosecutor. He’s continually allowed a spate of violent crime to go unpunished, which has emboldened attacks on law enforcement and law-abiding citizens alike.
“I was proud to join my Senate Republican colleagues in calling for Governor Hochul to remove DA Bragg from his position and install a district attorney that takes safety seriously. Government has an obligation to protect citizens. District Attorney Bragg has utterly failed in that mission and it’s past time for the governor to take action and remove him from office,” he concluded.
