Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. worked with many civic organizations, local businesses, houses of worship and elected officials over the summer to distribute backpacks and school supplies to youth throughout the district to help prepare them for the new school year, which just started this month.
“The success of this collective endeavor is a testament to the power of teamwork and community togetherness at all levels,” Addabbo said. “The youth are our future and should always remain a priority.”
Senator Addabbo participated in a total of eight events and gave away about 400 backpacks. The receiving organizations were Faith Assembly, Full Gospel Assembly, Ozone Park Kiwanis, Cityline Ozone Park Civilian Patrol. Senator Addabbo partnered with his colleagues in government for giveaways. They were Assemblymembers Jennifer Rajkumar, Catalina Cruz, Andrew Hevesi, David Weprin, and Councilwoman Joann Ariola. The backpacks and supplies were donated by the Shops at Atlas Park, Madison Square Garden Group, Queens Public Library, and River Fund.
