Addabbo Teams Up with Puppy Kitty NYC for Pet Food Drive
August 15, 2024
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. has partnered with Puppy Kitty NYC, a non-profit animal rescue group to host a pet food drive, collecting new cans and bags of cat food and dog food, which can be dropped off at each of his district office locations – 84-16 Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven or 66-85 73rd Place in Middle village – during regular business hours from September 3 to September 30th.
Upon completion of the drive, the collected items will be given to Puppy Kitty NYC, based in Middle Village, to be distributed appropriately throughout the city to help animals in need, and facilitate the organization’s mission to save homeless, sick, and dying animals.
Back in January, Puppy Kitty NYC rescued 34 cats from inside and outside of a building in Woodhaven after discovering that a cleaning crew allegedly hired by the landlord threw several cats out of a second-floor apartment window. The group found many of the cats were frightened, sick, or dying and they did all they could to provide food, care, and medicine to the helpless creatures.
“I hope this food drive will help Puppy Kitty NYC continue to do their good work throughout the community, saving the lives of animals who have no one to care for them,” Addabbo said. “Pet ownership is a big responsibility that should not be taken lightly, and potential pet owners should be prepared for this long-term, emotional and financial commitment before moving forward, because in the end when pet owners walk away it’s the animals, who through no fault of their own that suffer.”
"We are thrilled to be partnering with the Senator on this crucial food drive,” said Meagan Licari president of Puppy Kitty NYC. “Our mission to help homeless animals aligns perfectly with the Senator's commitment to our community, and together, we can make a significant impact in ensuring that no animals in our district are going hungry.”
