Drop Off Your Valentine's Day Cards and Donations for Local Veterans at Senator Addabbo's Offices
January 22, 2024
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is partnering with community organizations and elected officials to collect items for the elderly and disabled veterans at the NYS Veterans Home at St. Albans.
You can drop off items at Senator Addabbo’s District Office, located at 84-16 Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven, and his Middle Village office at 66-85 73rd Place in Middle Village. Acceptable donations are toiletries, sugar-free candy, new underwear, T-shirts, socks and sweats for men and women veterans. Donations will be collected until February 12, 2024. Addabbo is also accepting Valentine’s Day cards which he will hand-deliver to the veterans.
"As we celebrate Valentine's Day, let us remember our elderly and disabled veterans who have selflessly served our nation,” said Addabbo, a member of the NYS Committee on Veterans and Homeland Security. “On Valentine's Day, let's honor their sacrifice and show our appreciation by supporting initiatives that aid and care for these heroes. Let's spread love and kindness to those who have given so much for our country."
Senator Addabbo is partnering with Ridgewood 321 Kiwanis, Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar, Council Members Joann Ariola and Bob Holden, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 32, Allied Veterans, Post 104, Post 118 Ladies Auxiliary, Ozone Park Woodhaven Howard Beach Lions, Glendale Property Owners, Ozone Park Block Association and Woodhaven Block Association.
“Our veterans have put their lives on the line for our freedoms, and this is just one little way of saying thank you and showing some appreciation,” said Councilwoman Joann Ariola. “Many veterans, sadly, spend their Valentine’s Days alone, but through this initiative we can remind them that we all care about them, and that we are truly grateful for all that they were willing to risk for each and every one of us.”
“It is my esteemed pleasure to sponsor Valentines with Veterans with my community partners. Veterans have courageously served our Nation to safeguard our freedoms, and I will always be their champion,” said Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar. When I became Assemblywoman, the first committee assignment I requested was the Veterans Committee. Providing our veterans with essential items is one token of our profound gratitude for all their sacrifices, telling them that we are by their side fighting for them every day.”
