NYS Senator Kristen Gonzalez's Statement on the Death of Jordan Neely

Jordan Neely deserved justice. He deserved the right to live– to receive the care & dignity that every person is entitled to. His death was a tragic reminder of the urgent need to address the failures in our mental health care system, and the acquittal of Jordan Neely’s killer is a reminder that true justice can only be achieved by investing in systems that protect the most vulnerable New Yorkers: expanding access to mental health resources, supporting mental health workers, and ensuring that healthcare is accessible and equitable for everyone. 

His life mattered, and it is our responsibility to make sure that future tragedies like this are prevented by a society that prioritizes care, compassion, and justice for all.
