Senator Lea Webb Announces Over $23 Million in State Funding to Rehabilitate Local Bridges and Culverts

(Binghamton, NY) Today, Senator Lea Webb (SD52) announced over $23 million in state funding through the BRIDGE NY Initiative to rehabilitate bridges and culverts in Broome, Cortland, and Tompkins counties. 

“I am pleased to announce that local governments across the Southern Tier will receive over $23 million in state funding to improve the safety and resiliency of our critical transportation infrastructure,” said Senator Lea Webb. “ I am committed to working with our local partners to enhance public safety, improve our infrastructure's resiliency and sustainability, and reduce the risk of flooding from severe weather and climate change.  By enabling counties to address these vital needs and avoid project delays; we can contain costs and save taxpayers money."

The following bridges and culverts will receive grant funding:

CORTLAND COUNTY:

• $2,387,000 to Cortland County for replacement of Pine Hill Road bridge over Hunts Creek
• $1,500,000 to Cortland County for replacement of Cold Brook Road (Route 102) culvert carrying Cold Brook Creek
• $2,491,000 to the Town of Cortlandville for the replacement of Hoxie Gorge Road bridge over Hoxie Creek
• $1,499,000 to the Town of Preble for the replacement of Currie Road culvert carrying West Branch Tioughnioga River

BROOME COUNTY:

• $2,601,000 to Broome County for the replacement of the Glenwood Road bridge over Big Choconut Creek
• $599,000 to Broome County for major rehabilitation of the Nanticoke Drive bridge over Bradley Creek
• $2,487,000 to the Town of Vestal for the replacement of the Baker Hill Road bridge over Tracy Creek
• $1,454,000 to the Town of Vestal for relining of Fuller Hollow Road culvert carrying Fuller Hollow Creek

TOMPKINS COUNTY

• $4,750,000 to Tompkins County for replacement of Falls Road bridge over Taughannock Creek
• $1,051,000 to the City of Ithaca for the replacement of the Stone Quarry Road culvert
• $896,000 to the Town of Ulysses for relining of Maplewood Road culvert carrying the Tributary to Cayuga Lake
• $1,330,000 to the Village of Dryden for the replacement of Union Street culvert

These grants will support all phases of project delivery, including design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction.
