Dogs Awaiting Adoption into their Forever Homes will Receive Modern Kennels at Dutchess SPCA Thanks to Capital Funding Secured by Senator Michelle Hinchey

HYDE PARK, NY — Senator Michelle Hinchey today announced that she has secured $250,000 in state grant funding to help the Dutchess County SPCA complete the construction of its new dog kennel wing. The wing will replace the current 65-year-old kennel building and provide a clean, spacious, and serene environment for dogs seeking adoption. The new space will allow Dutchess SPCA to double its capacity to house dogs.

Senator Michelle Hinchey said, “Dutchess County SPCA provides loving, compassionate care for dogs and cats as they wait to be adopted by their forever families. I’m thrilled to have secured funding to help the shelter make the capital upgrades they need to build a beautiful new dog kennel wing and continue providing an incredible standard of care to these precious future pets.”

Dutchess County SPCA Executive Director Lynne Meloccaro said, "Senator Hinchey has the deepest gratitude of all of us here at DCSPCA for helping to obtain these desperately needed funds. Thanks to her help, dogs for many years to come will no longer have to live in those old dilapidated kennels but have safety and comfort as they wait for their forever homes."

Founded in 1871, Dutchess County SPCA is one of the oldest and independently-run SPCAs in the country, sustained almost entirely by donations. Many pets at Dutchess SPCA eagerly await adoption. Discover their stories and how you can make a life-changing difference by visiting www.dcspca.org/adopt
