Stec Joins Congressman Lawler at Press Conference Calling for New Direction from Failing Hochul Agenda

Senator Dan Stec (R,C-Queensbury) today joined Congressman Michael Lawler and his Senate and Assembly Republican colleagues at a press conference calling for a change in course from Governor Hochul’s failing, unpopular agenda and vision laid out in her State of the State Address. Specifically, the Congressman, Stec and state lawmakers highlighted New York’s ongoing affordability and public safety crises and urged for a common-sense approach – such as repeals of the unfeasible electric vehicle mandate and the CLCPA - that meets the needs and values of middle-class families and small business owners.

 

“Congressman Lawler laid out the stakes for lawmakers this year: New York State is too expensive and too unsafe. Our residents are reeling from a high cost of living and a series of pro-crime and pro-illegal immigrant policies from Democrat leaders that have lowered our quality of life and led to catastrophic outmigration.

 

“In her State of the State of the State Address, Governor Hochul ignored or paid lip service to the many issues facing our State. Our affordability crisis was referenced in the form of insulting, gimmick ‘inflation checks.’ There was no vision for resolving the disastrous situation along our Northern Border. And there was no acknowledgement of the fact that bail reform has made it unsafe for New Yorkers to ride the subway, or even just go out in their community.

 

“I’m glad that I could join Congressman Lawler and my Senate and Assembly Republican colleagues in presenting a different vision for our state. If we’re going to ensure that New York matches its legacy as the Empire State, it’s time to move away from Governor Hochul and Democrat leadership’s disastrous policies and put the issues that matter most to our families – affordability and safety – first,” said Senator Stec.
