Richmond Hill, NY – Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is continuing to take action to improve the conditions in Richmond Hill, working alongside community groups and multiple city and state agencies to address safety, sanitation, and infrastructure concerns.

Through continued collaboration with the MTA Police Department and NYPD, law enforcement efforts remain focused on ticketing and enforcement under the trestle to discourage illegal activity in the area. Additionally, the Department of Sanitation (DSNY) has increased its monitoring and cleanup efforts to curb illegal dumping.

To further support these initiatives, Senator Addabbo has secured funding for the installation of two security cameras under the trestle, a measure aimed at improving public safety and deterring vandalism. Additionally, funding has been allocated to Shmira Patrol to ensure an increased presence in the area, providing further security for local residents and businesses.

Senator Addabbo is also calling on the MTA to address the deteriorating conditions of the trestle, including much-needed repairs, repainting, and general infrastructure improvements. The trestle is a vital structure in Richmond Hill, and its upkeep is essential to preserving the quality of life for commuters, pedestrians, and local businesses.

Community groups, including Friends of Babbage and Bessemer and the Richmond Hill Historical Society, have been active partners in this process, advocating for necessary changes and working alongside government officials to see long-term improvements made. Their dedication to preserving Richmond Hill’s history and enhancing its public spaces has been invaluable to this effort.

“These continued steps show our commitment to making real, lasting improvements under the trestle,” said Senator Addabbo. “By working with law enforcement, DSNY, community groups, and the MTA, we are addressing critical safety concerns, improving sanitation, and ensuring that this area is maintained and respected. Richmond Hill deserves a clean, safe, and well-maintained infrastructure, and I will continue to push for progress until these necessary improvements are realized.”

Senator Addabbo remains committed to working with all stakeholders to ensure that ongoing efforts result in meaningful, long-term changes for the Richmond Hill community.
