Senator Addabbo Partners with TLC to Serve Local Drivers at Successful Van Hailin' Queens Event
March 13, 2025

Senator Addabbo joins Audra Palacio, Assistant Commissioner and David Renz, Senior Outreach Specialist both of the TLC Office Office of Community Affairs.
Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. partnered with the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission (TLC) for a Van Hailin’ event on March 7, 2025, at Monsignor Mulz Hall in Woodhaven. The well-attended event, which drew 195 people was a one-stop shop for essential services for TLC drivers. It was also the two-year anniversary of the very popular mobile outreach initiative.
TLC drivers as well as those from rideshare companies like Uber and Lyft, took advantage of resources designed to simplify their compliance and operational needs. This included the ability to submit their annual mandated drug tests, facilitated by LabCorp, as well as other services that often require a trip to TLC’s Long Island City office.
“I am proud to have partnered with the TLC to bring ease and convenience to the busy drivers of for-hire vehicles,” said Senator Addabbo. “This event was designed to ease the burden of travel and enable drivers to address all their requirements in one place, and closer to home. I am so thankful to St. Thomas the Apostle Church for allowing us to use their gymnasium to host the event.”
Van Hailin’ acts as a mobile office where TLC staff from the Community Affairs, Finance, Licensing, and Prosecution Units are able to assist. Services provided to drivers at the event included:
Offering and services of settlement
Help with TLC UP navigation
Suspension removal
The proof of ‘Current’ through TAMIS
General licensing inquiries
Furthermore, TLC inspectors were on hand to discuss decal requirements, Notice of Violation (NOV) lookups, and VHR (Vehicle Inspection Report) reprints. There were also resources tables from a variety of other organizations providing services in the fields of health, education, legal services and more.
