March 27, 2025

Senator Mark Walczyk today expressed his strong support for President Trump’s Executive Order issued on March 25, 2025, which includes key provisions from legislation he sponsors aimed at preserving and protecting the integrity of American elections. This Executive Order outlines crucial measures to secure voter identification, enforce citizenship requirements, and ensure that every vote is counted fairly and accurately.

"I am thrilled to align with President Trump on the critical importance of safeguarding our electoral process," said Senator Walczyk. "The SAVE Act that I sponsor fits seamlessly with the President's vision for a transparent and accountable election system. We must ensure that the right of American citizens to vote is protected and that their votes are not diluted by illegal practices."

The Executive Order tackles critical issues such as the implementation of voter ID requirements, the maintenance of accurate voter registration lists, and the prevention of foreign interference in U.S. elections. Notably, Section 2, subsection b (i) closely aligns with S2345, Senator Walczyk's legislation that integrates with the SAVE Act to verify voter eligibility. The Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) Act, administered by the Department of Homeland Security, is designed to ensure that undocumented individuals do not receive welfare or other benefits they are not entitled to. Senator Walczyk’s bill mandates that New York collaborate with the SAVE Act, enabling federal authorities to cross-check voter registrations to confirm citizenship status. Furthermore, Section 8 enhances enforcement measures against foreign nationals contributing to political campaigns, echoing Senator Walczyk's S1774, which prohibits contributions from hostile foreign nations in New York elections. These legislative parallels underscore a shared commitment to upholding the integrity of our electoral process.

"Every New Yorker deserves to know that their vote counts and that our elections are free from fraud and manipulation," Walczyk continued. "The SAVE Act embodies this commitment by promoting common-sense policies that enhance election security and uphold the democratic process. I applaud the President for taking decisive action on these crucial issues plaguing the electoral process. I urge my colleagues on the opposite side of the aisle to stop trying to implement harmful policies that undermine election integrity; it is time to pay attention."

Senator Walczyk has encountered significant backlash from the majority in his pursuit of essential election law reforms, yet he remains unwavering in his commitment to oppose any initiatives that jeopardize the integrity and transparency of our electoral process. "I have been accused of exaggerating claims, but the reality is clear—the majority is actively working to register non-citizens to vote. Their proposed legislation opens the door to potential fraud within our electoral system. Fortunately, our President understands that voting is a right, duty, and privilege reserved exclusively for U.S. citizens. We must stand firm in defending that right with unwavering resolve. We must protect that right fiercely."
