Senator Siela A. Bynoe Announces Committee Assignments
(Albany, NY) – State Senator Siela A. Bynoe has been named to the following Senate Committees: Consumer Protection, Education, Environmental Conservation, Investigations and Government Operations, Mental Health, and Transportation. In addition, Senator Bynoe will serve as the Chairperson of the Senate Standing Committee on Libraries.
“Libraries are a fundamental part of the community," said Bynoe. “As a Nassau County Legislator, I worked to secure more than $200,000 for improvements to libraries throughout the district, and I am eager to continue to partner with libraries in an impactful and meaningful way.”
Senate District Six is home to eleven public libraries. Senator Bynoe has long been dedicated to ensuring that all residents and students have access to the resources offered at their local and school libraries, from books and audio to digital, video, and other learning materials.
“Libraries are gathering places where tutoring and many other services are offered, including IT help, free internet access, quiet reading rooms, and programming for all ages,” Senator Bynoe said. “I look forward to working with my colleagues to protect and enhance these necessary institutions, and I thank Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins for this appointment.”
