Dear New York City Department of Education,

I am a concerned citizen of New York City who believes that children with special needs deserve a fair chance to reach their fullest potential. Special needs children are not getting the services they need and the process is too broken and burdensome for families to navigate. They need your help. We implore you to follow through on the Federal Court Order and provide the support and resources they deserve, immediately.

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law that protects our most vulnerable children and guarantees these rights. It is an embarrassment that the great City of New York has remained out of compliance with the law for 20 years! I call upon you to act with urgency to fulfill your legal obligation to our special needs students and be the hero who finally guarantees that special needs children are given a chance to thrive
