Friends' groups, common throughout the state park system, offer our residents an opportunity to play an active role to help reimagine our park's fullest potential.
Heckscher State Park is filled with beautiful walking and bike paths, magnificent bayside vistas, pickleball courts, and tons of other recreational opportunities. The recent addition of glamping cabins and the enhancement of the campgrounds have brought a new dimension to this great park with even greater potential!
Friends of Heckscher State Park are organized volunteers who create events at the park, organize interest in the park and most importantly, bring new life to the largest public State Park on our side of the Great South Bay. Shining a spotlight on this magnificent park will ensure competitive funding and grants find their way to Heckscher. This new Friends group will work with the park's find their way to Heckscher. This new Friends group will work with the park's dedicated management team to raise Heckscher State Park to new heights.
