Five-Boro Bike Tour ― Sunday, May 2^nd

MTA Bridges and Tunnels Closures, Traffic Conditions;

The Five-Boro Bike Tour on Sunday, May 2^nd will affect traffic at four MTA Bridges and Tunnels facilities, especially the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, which cyclists will cross to toward the finish line.  Motorists should be aware of the following conditions: 

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge:

12:01 AM: All lanes, both directions, lower level of bridge, closed.

7 AM – 6 PM: Bay Street exit in Staten Island closed.

8 AM: Brooklyn-bound lower level – two out of three lanes re-open to vehicular traffic.

10 AM: 92^nd Street entrance ramp (Staten Island-bound) closed to vehicular traffic.

5 PM: 92^nd Street ramp to upper level ONLY (Staten Island-bound) expected to re-open.

6 PM: Staten Island-bound lower level and all other closed lanes expected to re-open.

Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel:

7 AM – 6 PM: Manhattan-bound customers exiting the tunnel are advised that Trinity Place exit will be closed; detour is West Street.

10 AM – 3 PM: Brooklyn-bound traffic attempting to access the westbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway toward the (I-278W) Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be required to divert to the Hamilton Avenue exit ramp.  The westbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278W) will be closed from Atlantic Avenue to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. 

RFK (Triborough) Bridge:

8 AM – 1 PM: Ramp to FDR Drive south will be closed.  All Manhattan-bound traffic must exit at 125^th Street.  Traffic agents will be at 125^th Street to facilitate traffic.

Queens Midtown Tunnel:

Heavy delays expected due to traffic diverted from Pulaski and Queensboro Bridges, which will be closed for the Bike Tour.
