The New York City Water Board has scheduled six public hearings for the upcoming FY2011 water rate proposal: one evening hearing in each of the five boroughs and an additional afternoon hearing to take place in Manhattan.
The proposed FY2011 water rate will be presented to the Water Board on April 9, 2010 by the Department of Environmental Protection, which is responsible for proposing a water rate that meets the financial demands required to cover the cost of providing water and wastewater services to New York City residents. Following the six public hearings, the Water Board will formally adopt the FY2011 water rate on May 21 and the new rate will become effective on July 1, 2010.
Those unable to attend the hearings who wish to submit testimony can do so through the NYC Water Board website's Contact page by selecting Submit Testimony in the Topics dropdown menu.
