Free Narcan Training Provided With Help From Community Health Action of Staten Island & YMCA Counseling Services
Senator Andrew Lanza and Assemblyman Michael Cusick and are hosting an opiate overdose prevention event at YMCA Counseling Services at 7:00 p.m. on October 8th to teach residents how to respond in the event of an opiate overdose.
Attendees will learn how to recognize an overdose, what to do in the event of an overdose and how to administer Narcan. Upon completion of the course attendees will be certified to administer Narcan and will receive a free Narcan kit to bring home. Supplies are limited and residents should call Senator Lanza’s office in advance to RSVP (718-984-4073).

The Senate has been instrumental in increasing access to the highly effective antidote Narcan. Senate Bill S6477B, cosponsored by Senator Andrew Lanza, authorized health care professionals to issue non-patient specific orders for Naloxone allowing for events such as this.
